  • As long as I'm on this "Italian Kick" I might as well include this one. More sophisticated ballads and pop with a dash of Italian/Celtic thrown in for diversity..."Il Chielo D'Irlanda" sounds like the Waterboys on chianti! • MARIA MARQUEZ - "ONCE CUENTES DE AMOR" (ELEVEN LOVE SONGS)
  • Now residing in San Francisco, California, this Venezuelan transplant really knows how to seduce...passionate vocal and instrumental arrangements that will leave you "teary-eyed" as you stagger out of the lounge! A mixture of latin ballads delivered with a "lounge jazz" style that will make you long for the days of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".   • "They're back!!!" Yes indeed, with the same line-up (Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez, Doug Sahm, & Augie Meyers), in addition to some great accompanying musicians; i.e. Ry Cooder, Jim Dickinson, Rosie Flores, etc. If you like the kind of music that rides the border between Texas & Mexico, then this is the record for you. Tex-Mex at it's best, lot's of accordian & bar-room lyrics. This is a tight bunch of hombres that like their beer cold & their Natcho's hot! They know how to play it; Gee, I feel like I'm back out in the cherry orchards in Stockton, California; "I found my picking bucket but who the hell stole my ladder?" Ole' Amigos!
